Bolzano / Bozen arrival was with good weather and warm enough temp to head to the gondola/lift to Obolzano, a town at the top where you can look over the dolomites in the alps. A small chestnut festival was happening where they were being roasted on the open fire. Now that the actual smell of chestnuts roasting has now been learned by me, I am not sure what is the romantic Christmas-iness other than that line in the song, it’s just smoke.

The weather forcast had changed and we passed innsbruck for the reason of not packing warm enough for snow. glad we continued on to the other side of the alps
