Back down in town went out to an old restaurant and ordered another german meal, the plate for 2 could have fed 4, but the pork was not tender enough for the trouble of even eating it. The hotel was a bit to gadgety even or me, room conrtol consoles next to the bed that controls all the lights, the do not disturb light, etc, but was pretty low tech. Was probably the hottest future thing when it was put in. The books in the lobby and the room were of pictures of hotel rooms around the world. A bit too fab, or trying to be fab. The best part of the hotel was the breakfast, the buffet had a large selection of items you would not in the US (which really is pretty lame)
Bolzano, not being the original plan of Innsbruck turned out to be a good choice.
A bit of walking around before catching a train to Verona, Italy, then waiting through the cancelled trains for the more expensive train to Venice. Italy has gone to requiring reservations for the faster/non regional trains, so even with a rail pass they cost 10 euros a person each time.
